Dr. Helen P. Young

Consultant

 Dr. Helen P. Young possesses over 25 years of experience in the field of education as a counselor, director, and administrator. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s Degree from CSU Dominguez Hills and a Doctorate Degree in Community College Educational Leadership from San Diego State University. Dr. Young’s career in education began as a college admissions counselor where she developed a love for counseling. She served as the director of counseling at high schools in the Los Angeles area for over 10 years. In 2005 she began working as an academic counselor at West Los Angeles College and served as the Transfer Center & Honors Director. Dr. Young served for five years as the Project Director for the California Community College Transfer Guarantee to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) of which she now serves in a part-time capacity. In 2019, she and two other California Community College colleagues developed and founded Pipelines to Possibilities (P2P) Internship program which is designed to prepare HBCU graduate students for careers in the California Community College system.

She resides in the city of Los Angeles with her husband, William Allen Young and two sons Jamal and Kahlil, both college graduates.
