Dr. Alexandra M. Burrel completed her Doctor of Philosophy (2019) in Higher Education Administration from Morgan State University, Bachelor of Arts (2006) in Sociology and her Master of Arts (2008) in Counselor Education: College Counseling both from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. For the past 14 years, her professional career has been focused on student development, diversity & inclusion, recruiting, institutional event planning, and administration while working for institutions such as Western Michigan University, Michigan State University, Morgan State University, Howard University, Monmouth University and currently as the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer at the University of La Verne. In addition to her work within Higher Education, Alexandra has assisted organizations for the past 11 years in making their meetings productive and beneficial as a Senior Account Executive with Diversity Communications Associates.
Dr. Burrel also holds a license as a professional counselor (LPC) in Michigan and is nationally certified as a counselor (NCC) as well. Currently, Alexandra provides educational advising and counseling referral through her Limited Liability Company (LLC) Peaces of Cake.
Dr. Burrel plans to continue advancing the resources in which individuals use to attain their educational goals and holistic development. She is dedicated to meeting the needs of her students and clients in her professional life while continuing to work daily to add to the success and enhancement of herself and others. She holds a seat as a Board of Directors member for Caleb’s Kids and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
