Dr. Ilder Andres Betancourt Lopez

Dr. Ilder Andres Betancourt Lopez is the son of Latino undocumented immigrants and was blessed to grow up in an impoverished area of Los Angeles. Early life experiences inform his work to achieve equity and social justice within the community college system. He attended Stanford University and received two Bachelor's (in Psychology and Drama) and a Master's in Psychology. He earned his EdD in Higher Education Leadership from University of Southern California (USC).
Currently, he is the Dean of Science at Bellevue College, the largest community college in Washington. Previously, he was the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences at California’s San José City College (SJCC). Prior to that, he was at Arizona’s Glendale Community College (GCC) as chairperson and tenured faculty in the Psychology Department. Starting in August, he will serve as the Vice President of Learning and Student Success at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom.
